I have been quoted $17,993 for a 2003 Ford NH TC35D with a factory installed loader. That seems a little high to me. They also want an additional $300 for a sun canopy.

I have 80 acres and will use my tractor for mowing, road maintence, etc. Did I pick the right one?

This will be my first tractor purchase. I could sure use some good advice.

Thanks,

Jon

I can't comment on the price but I can comment on the tractor. I recently purchased a TC40 (Was looking between TC33 and TC40) and the forum recommended I go with the TC40. I can honestly tell you that the horsepower is worth it, I have 176 acres and when mowing the HP is king! My recommendation would be to check the price on a TC40. Good luck ....

There are three frame sizes in the NH compact tractor line. You are looking at the largest frame size. In that size they have 35, 40 and 45 HP engines. The difference from going from one engine size to the next is about $1000 more or less. To me it is worth going to the larger engines in the 40 or 45. The larger engines are four cylinder rather than three and have more torque. You are moving roughly the same weight on any of the large frame tractors, so more power goes directly to the ground and translates into more capability.

I bought a TC45. I like manual transmissions better than the hydros, but I think that I am probably in the minority in that respect. I also live in the mountains, so my TC45 only produces about 40 HP much like a TC40 at sea level. It is a fine combination.

If I am remembering correctly, I paid about $19K for the TC45 with 16LA FEL including tax. So, subtracting $2K for two engine sizes and adding $2K for hydro means that your price is in the ballpark. If you get the zero percent financing, it helps even further. ....
